It’s Right in Front of Me!
Just spent a 1/2 hour, 45 minutes – maybe an hour, I’m not sure – at the local hardware store – looking for a 1/2 to 1/4 adapter for a new shut off valve for my shower head (I’m a patient man. Usually.).
Anyway, after looking and looking, I finally surrendered and asked for help. However, the sales associate had a hard time finding the right piece too.
Suddenly, as if it jumped right out at me, I found what I was looking for. It was right in front of me the whole time.
How often do we look, and look, for something only to find it was right in front of us the whole time?
Reminds me of the two disciples that were talking between themselves, on the road to Emmaus, after Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
Along the way, a “Stranger” joined them, and their conversation. They didn’t know who this stranger was at first. However, after reaching Emmaus and inviting the stranger to come in and join them for the night, the resurrected Christ revealed Himself to them.
He was right in front of them the whole time.
How many things do we miss, how many things are right in front of us, but we miss them because we’re not stopping to look for them? Or, at least, slowing down a bit to see them?
