Can you see a tornado?
No. You can see the dust and the debris a tornado picks up and swirls around but, just like the air that surrounds you – the same air you are breathing as you read this – you cannot see the actual tornado.
Can you see God?
Similarly to a tornado, and the air that surrounds you, we can see His “footprints” – we can see the results of His being, we can see His Son – but we cannot see Him.
Except by Jesus.
Suppose then, for one moment, what would happen if we took the air away?
What would happen?
And, like taking air away, what if God departed from us? What would happen?
It did happen.
In Ezekiel 10, we learn God did depart from the temple. Like a tornado. Why?
Because the people turned their backs on, and walked away from, Him.
What happened?
If we turn our back on God, and walk away, we cannot expect He will follow. We cannot expect He will be there to catch us when we fall. We cannot expect to be able to see Him.
But, if we seek Him out, if we accept and welcome Him in to our lives, His promise is to never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8, Hebrews 13:5).
Do you see Him?
